Matt Will was a 30-year-old heavy equipment operator with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection who died October 8, 2007 as a result of a bulldozer rollover while battling the Colorado Fire in Monterey County.

This scholarship is awarded annually to any individual interested in attending the California Fire Mechanics Academy. Selection of the recipient is made by the Board of Directors of the California Fire Mechanics Academy, Inc. and includes tuition and textbooks. Travel and hotel accommodations are not included.
